CRPS – The chronic pain that won’t go away | Life and style | The Guardian

An interesting read from the Guardian, giving fresh hope to chronic pain sufferers. The article, brief as it is has a useful insight into what it is like to live in pain 24/7, the frustrations of both the patient and doctors at the lack of help/knowledge available and understanding the triggers of pain and being able to help. It tells of one man who amputated his own hand because of the pain, maybe that helps to explain how unbearable the pain is for the less sympathetic. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve asked my wife to rip out my spine (I know medically not possible, but I long for an article like this that offers some hope for me) but I understand the pain that drives someone to want to do this!
