The Elephant In The Room

{Since it is National Eating Disorder Awareness (NEDA) Week, I will be sharing a bit about my eating disorder battle.  It’s not something I talk about as much as amputation, but that part of the journey was just as important.  Therefore, it needs to be talked about.}

Whether we like to admit it or not, we all have struggles.  It’s not always easy to talk about them, especially if they are tied to shame or other uncomfortable feelings.  One of the things that I used to battle, as many people know, is anorexia.

Blegh, just writing the word makes me cringe.  For so long, I was entangled in this eating disorder.  I was “the anorexic girl.”  I heard the phrase, “once an anorexic, always an anorexic” on more than one occasion.  My life revolved around anorexia.
