Today the positives are brought to you courtesy of family, firstly we visited our 91 year old Gran and Great Gran. She has not been in the best of health of late and has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and having seen this horrible disease in the past it does explain some of her behaviours. Despite speaking to us this morning and us leaving shortly after we had a message on our answerphone when we got home from her scheme manager as Gran was upset as she had forgotten what we said and if we were on our way. We’d stopped to grab her favourite takeaway for a surprise for lunch so was a little longer. It really is a horrible illness and I was worried what to expect having seen my Granddad have the same illness. However, and this is why children are so important in my home town that considers itself dementia friendly seeing my LG brightened up her face and made her smile and laugh today and that was lovely to see.
This evening was my little brother’s 32nd Birthday and we all went to his for tea, a selection of takeaways of people’s choices whilst our 4 girls all played and enjoyed themselves. The two extremes of our family in 1 day, ranging from a 1 year old to a 91 years old and I love every one of them. Was also good to enlighten him and my sister in law on some of the inner most craziness of our Town Council.
To cap the day off I had 2nd, 3rd & 5th in today’s National 🙂
